Care

MeliMeli offers a range of high quality products in different materials which all require different upkeep to maintain their quality. To keep your MeliMeli product looking its best we recommend carefully following the directions outlined below.

Velvet
MeliMeli’s velvet is a soft and luxurious fabric, with proper care it’s a material that can last a lifetime! We only use the highest quality Italian velvet, made from 100% cotton in our furniture range. Cotton velvet only consists of natural fibre and therefore healthier to have around the home, our velvet also has a high rub count of 100,000 making it a very durable fabric. Velvet is delicate and can mark and change over time, this is part of the charm and characteristics of the material.

As velvet is sensitive to liquids, we strongly advise against cleaning the fabric with water or using a damp cloth. If liquid is spilled on your MeliMeli velvet furniture we recommend carefully soaking it up with a dry cloth or tissue. The liquid won’t immediately sink into the fabric and will rest on top for a little while, this will give you a chance to soak up the excess liquid. If the stain is still visible a baby wipe can be used, take care not to use a heavy hand but rather lightly dab the surface. Let the fabric air dry, repeat this step if the stain is still visible. To keep your velvet furniture looking its best we recommend using a soft brush nozzle on your vacuum cleaner to remove any dust from the surface when needed. A clothes roller or garment brush can also be used to spruce up the velvet. If there are any indents and marks to the velvet nap a clothes steamer can be used to buff out these marks. The fabric can fade if exposed to strong sunlight, we recommend keeping this in mind when placing your furniture in your home.

When our velvet furniture is packed for transit it is wrapped tightly to avoid any damage. This can sometimes cause indents and marks to the velvet nap which may be visible once unpacked. These marks will fade and disappear over time once the fabric gets a chance to ‘breathe’. As mentioned above a soft bristle brush or gentle clothes steamer can be used to buff out these marks. Temporary impressions can sometimes be visible after using your velvet product, this is typical of this type of fabric and will naturally disappear by itself. These type of irregularities in the fabric is normal for velvet and is not considered a fault. We will not be able to accept returns on the basis that the product is faulty if there are irregularities in the velvet as outlined above. All our velvet products are dry clean only.

Linen
MeliMeli’s Italian linen mix is of the highest quality and consist of 28 % cotton 21% linen and 51% viscose. Linen is a natural fabric, which changes and becomes more beautiful over time. We strongly advise against cleaning the fabric with water and recommend dry clean only for all our linen products. If liquid is spilled on the fabric, use a dry cloth or tissue to soak it up. If the stain persists, a baby wipe can be used carefully to remove the stain.

Viscose
MeliMeli’s NICO rug is made from 100% viscose. To maintain the quality of the rug we recommend hoovering when needed to remove dust an excess fibers. When your NICO rug is brand new, it can release excess fibers and fluff. This will stop over time once the rug is settled.

If liquid is spilled on the rug, use a dry cloth to soak it up then stroke the surface of the rug in the direction of the pile. If the stain persists use a stain remover made for viscose rugs, please ensure the stain remover is suitable for the material. If the stain is still visible we recommend taking it to a dry cleaner, our viscose rug can not be cleaned with water. Using a rug underlay is recommended to keep your rug in place, rotating the rug will help creating an even wear and keep your rug look its best

Wool

If liquid is spilled on the rug, use a dry cloth to soak it up, take care not to rub the stain in to the fibers. If the stain is still visible a baby wipe can also be used, if the stain persists we recommend taking your rug to the dry cleaners. Using a rug underlay is recommended to keep your rug in place, rotating the rug will help creating an even wear and keep your rug look its best

Teddy
Our Teddy fabric is made up of 80% acrylic and 20% polyester, together they create a soft and cosy off-white fabric. If liquid is spilled on your MeliMeli Teddy furniture we recommend carefully soaking it up with a dry cloth or tissue. If the stain is still visible a baby wipe can be used, take care not to use a heavy hand but rather lightly dab the surface. If the stain persists we recommend dry cleaning the product, washing the fabric with water is not advised.

Seat pads and upholstery padding
The back cushion on the MeliMeli furniture is made using cut polythene foam and silicone ball fibers, whilst the seat pad consists of a cold foam core, wrapped in a mixture of cut polythene foam and silicone ball fibers for ultimate comfort and long lasting quality. To ensure the upholstery textiles do not shrink we recommend dry cleaning only. Keep the padding looking its best by plumping the seat and back padding regularly.
